IndyCar 2023 season review: Chip Ganassi Racing
Alex Palou had an outstanding season in 2023, capturing top 10 finishes in every race and never placing lower than eighth. Despite the off-track drama, Palou showed his mental toughness and proved himself as a dominant force in IndyCar. At only 26 years old, he has already won two titles and will likely continue to be a problem for his competitors in the coming years.
Scott Dixon’s season was a bit strange, with doubts about whether he would end up without a win. However, he finished strong by winning three of the last four races and making a late push in the championship. The Long Beach incident with Pato O’Ward proved to be a pivotal moment that prevented Dixon from challenging Palou for the title.
Marcus Ericsson had a promising start to the season, winning in St. Petersburg and consistently finishing in the top 10. However, a crash at the Indianapolis 500 and a disappointing second half of the year hindered his performance. It will be interesting to see how his move to Andretti Global affects his performance in the upcoming season.
Despite running a partial season, Marcus Armstrong impressed as a rookie and earned top rookie honors. He scored the same number of points as Santino Ferrucci, who competed in all 17 rounds, but lost out on the tie-breaker of best finish. Overall, Chip Ganassi Racing had a strong year, with Palou dominating the field and Dixon finishing second in the standings.
